Shayne was commissioned by a group of donors and the Lewiston High School (LHS) in Lewiston Idaho to create a monumental (11 feet long!) bronze Bengal tiger mascot sculpture for installation at the new high school building. It was unveiled Oct 19, 2023.
Whether you are an LHS alumni/fan or just like the sculpture, it is available for sale in a 15" long bronze sculpture (one-sixth life size) and a 45" long size (one-half life size). You can ORDER your pieces through Shayne by contacting him at 208-877-7714 or at beargrass@moscow.com. The 15" size will be a limited edition of 100 and the 45"(one-half life size) will be limited to 25.
Current pricing for the 15" is $5000 and the 45" $20,000, subject to change. Contact us for information.
Shayne did a mock-up of the tiger to ensure the pose met the approval of the donors. This is the clay model in rough form.
We traveled to Portland, OR to have the 15" mock-up scanned and printed as a 45" foam core. There were few details and Shayne began covering the entire core with clay so he could begin sculpting the tiger in detail.
Once the foam core was covered with clay, Shayne added the details including the stripes. Each stripe is slightly inset to reflect the patina differently.
It was -4 degrees in Deary the morning we took the 45" model to Portland for the final scan. Here is Shayne unloading the model and checking for damage after the 7 hour trip. It was 28 degrees F in Portland, Oregon that morning!
Here's what it looks like in a computer generated model. The final monument size is 9 feet long from head to base of tail. The sculpture was 3D printed in 57 acrylic panels and transported to the foundry for final casting and assembly in bronze. Every step of the creation requires an artistic touch. Shayne is very grateful for the amazing staff at both foundries.

Local business Ag-pro donated a drone, and the veil was lifted by the drone to the cheers of the crowd! Superintendent Lance Hansen (doing the countdown) said this will be a photo op for alumni and current students for years to come.
Principal Kevin Driskill took this photo on an unusually snowy January morning in 2024.
